CertiZent: Enterprise SaaS Platform for Secure Credential Verification

The Context & Objective

In the education and corporate sectors, credential fraud and the manual overhead of issuing certificates present significant operational bottlenecks. The objective of CertiZent was to architect a scalable, multi-tenant SaaS platform that automates bulk certificate issuance while providing a highly secure, publicly accessible registry for instant verification.

Technical Architecture & Engineering

CertiZent was built as a robust, API-first application to ensure it could function both as a standalone portal and as an integrated microservice for larger enterprise ecosystems.

  • Core Stack & Microservices: Developed the core web application logic using PHP, while engineering a high-performance backend using FastAPI. This hybrid approach handles complex data validation and routing with minimal latency.
  • Cryptographic “Snapshot” Logic: Engineered a custom data-preservation mechanism that takes a digital “snapshot” of a certificate template at the exact moment of issuance. This guarantees that historical records remain tamper-proof and visually accurate, even if the issuing organization subsequently alters or deletes the base template.
  • API & Webhook Integrations: Built secure REST endpoints utilizing API key authentication. Configured outbound webhooks to allow external platforms (like HR software, CRMs, or EdTech LMS platforms) to programmatically trigger certificate generation upon course completion.

Product Features & Business Impact

  • Scalable Monetization Engine: Designed and implemented a robust tiered subscription model (Basic, Standard, Deluxe, Premium). The backend dynamically meters usage, restricting API generation volume and template customization limits based on the organization’s active tier.
  • Automated Data Ingestion: Engineered a processing pipeline that parses bulk CSV uploads, automatically mapping dynamic data fields to visual templates to generate thousands of unique certificates in seconds.
  • Frictionless Verification: Deployed a public-facing registry where employers or institutions can verify credentials instantly via unique IDs or scannable, auto-generated QR codes printed directly on the documents.
