My Journey Through the Microsoft AI Skills Challenge: A Guinness World Records™ title Experience

The world is rapidly changing, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is at the forefront of this transformation. Recognizing the importance of AI skills, Microsoft launched the AI Skills Challenge, a global initiative aimed at empowering individuals to learn and apply AI in practical ways. I was thrilled to be a part of this exciting event, which culminated in a Guinness World Record!

Diving into the AI Skills Fest

The Microsoft AI Skills Fest was a 50-day program packed with learning opportunities. From April 8th to May 28th, 2025, participants from around the globe engaged in a variety of activities, including:

  • Live virtual and in-person training sessions
  • Self-paced tutorials
  • Microsoft Learn challenges
  • Hackathons

The Fest covered a wide range of AI topics, catering to everyone from beginners to experienced professionals. I was particularly interested in the sessions on some areas such as, “Azure AI”, “GitHub Copilot”. The practical, hands-on approach of the program allowed me to quickly grasp key concepts and start applying them to real-world scenarios.

Making History: The Guinness World Record Attempt

The highlight of the AI Skills Fest was the attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the most users to take an online multi-level AI lesson in 24 hours. On April 8th, 2025, learners from all corners of the globe came together to participate in this historic event. It was an incredible experience to be part of such a massive, collaborative effort.

The energy was palpable as we worked through the lessons, knowing that we were not only enhancing our own skills but also contributing to a world record. The official announcement of the record being broken was a moment of collective pride and celebration. To be precise, Microsoft AI Skills Fest had 126,151 participants who set the record for “most users to take an online multi-level artificial intelligence lesson in 24 hours”
